Difference

Difference is a cross-continental social impact film produced across Armenia and the USA, created to create a dialogue on diversity and tolerance within religious communities. Directed by Armik Israyelyan, the project transforms a script into a visual narrative, prioritizing emotional resonance and narrative clarity. The film strips away artifice to focus entirely on the raw power of the performances.

Concept & Execution

The visual strategy was rooted in static compositions and a minimalist production design to strip away distractions and place the narrative’s emotional weight entirely on the autenthicity. Characters are non-actors. To bridge the story’s thematic layers, the editing employs precise match cuts and cross-cutting, creating a rhythmic connection between moments. One of the project’s most critical phases was a rigorous casting process, successfully navigating the challenge of sourcing a diverse ethnic ensemble within Armenia to authentically represent the film’s global message.
